I was prepared for a few things that could kill me when I departed on my maiden flight to South America. A car jacking or shooting by a drug cartel or maybe piranha or anaconda attack. But it was during my flight as I was enjoying the novelty of in flight live TV that I found out I had a new danger. As I killed time watching BBC world news it was reported that the World Health Organisation had listed red meat as a cancer causing killer. It was with a death wish that I hit the streets of Buenos Aires to live on the edge in this beef crazy town.
Northern Italy has some of the best food and the best scenery on the planet so when visiting Lake Como I thought why not combine the two and do our very own degustation cruise. I chose the shortest and the cheapest public ferry route out of Como. For around 9 euro you can take the one hour round trip and get on and off as you please.
During our stay in Perpignan, France we were told by a local to take the one euro bus to the seaside town of Collioure. Any day trip that costs one euro will do on a year long expedition so we headed for the bus with no idea what the town was like and no expectations. It was a slow winding road through some pretty uninteresting towns before we set our eyes on the jewel that is Collioure.
There is no shortage of choice when it comes to dining out in the city of Girona. Like its famous big brother Barcelona, Girona prides itself on the produce and food history that the Catalan soil provides. The sprawling brutish Barcelona serves it to you no questions asked but like most pretty little sisters Girona is coy and won’t give up her best easily.
