find > scan for non-resident files. if you check this option, this application will scan the selected partition for non-resident files. if any non-resident file is found, ufs explorer standard recovery will display a message about it and highlight its location in the current folder.

to import ufs explorer scan results, you need to add the folder with the scanned data to the raid builder and then launch the scanning utility. this can be performed in the following manner:

  • open raid builder and open the file in the desired folder.
  • press import button.
  • if the following window appears, select the custom button and choose the scanned directory, which should be placed on a removable storage device, for example, a usb flash drive.
  • press ok.
  • the scanned directory will be added to the list of scanned folders in the main window.

when you open ufs explorer, you are presented with the list of storage volumes and their contents. these storage volumes are arranged on the left side of the main window. you can use the following buttons to navigate in the list:

  • go to top.
  • go to bottom.
  • go to previous.
  • go to next.

bitlocker recovery key does not change for a given user after the computer is restarted. if you lose the bitlocker password and still want to use the bitlocker feature to protect your data, you need to generate a new recovery key. to do so, you need to turn on bitlocker for a chosen disk, then press the password button. select the create new recovery key option and provide a unique name for it in the text field. note that you can define as many recovery keys as you want and they can be used for different bitlocker disks. to create the key, you need to enter a 48-digit value in the text field as it shows in the following screenshot.

after all the successfully scanned files are listed, a recovery mode prompt will ask for start recovery from the current position, start from the start of the root partition or start in a new folder on the drive, or skip incomplete scan in case it was unable to complete the scan for some reason, the latter if not selected, that is, there is only one file system in the system. here an empty folder called “uncontained files” is created under the file system root, which contains the recovered files. they will be displayed in the right-hand pane of the gui as uncontained files folder. clicking on them will open the files in explorer. by default, explorer will be used to open them. if you prefer another application, you can use the options button to switch the default application to be used in the case of double-clicking on the file items. for this open the options dialog box, select the open with… button and select another application you prefer. clicking on the select button will then ask for confirmation before the selected application is applied to open the file. if no suitable application is found, the original file system is used by default. the opened file can be saved in the original location as well. clicking on the button will save the file there instead. the quality of the data recovery process depends on the number of the successfully analyzed partitions, which is indicated in the left-hand pane of the gui in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. at the moment there are none of them, the progress bar is shown empty. nevertheless, scanning and data recovery may take a considerable amount of time, and in case of 32-bit cpu systems, the process may need up to 4 gb of free memory. from the options dialog box, you can adjust the scan time by setting the parallel scanning parameter in the settings section. this is the maximum number of threads that can be used for parallel scanning of drives. specifying the number of threads may make the recovery process twice faster than it can be done with the original number of threads. you can set the number of threads that should be used by clicking on the number of threads entry. 5ec8ef588b
